Now that the holidays are over and we've had a chance to recooperate, let's get knitting!
On my Facebook page a while back we were talking about starting a knit-along for the True Love Cowl. I'll post here weekly my progress. Feel free to comment with your progress here or on the Facebook fan page and share a picture if you have one.
My cowl will be knit with Cascade Eco-Wool in a lovely lavender. I actually get a bit larger gauge with this than the pattern calls for (about 16 sts per 4") so I may leave off one pattern repeat and cast on only 100 sts. I haven't decided yet. I'll be casting on as soon as the boys finish their lessons today.
Now let's talk pattern. You'll notice that the cowl starts off with a provisional cast on. I use the one from knittinghelp.com with a piece of waste string, but you can use which ever method you prefer (just google it or search on youtube and you'll find all sorts of ways). The reason for the provisional cast on is to make the funky picot edge. Once the whole cowl is knit, you'll go back and bind off those stitches in the way you bound off the bottom stitches. But, if it really seems to daunting to you, you can just work a regular cast on and not have the picot edge. If you want the edges to match, don't work the picot bind off on the bottom edge either.
